TUESDAY

I just came home from parent teacher conferences. I met with Kathleen's teacher Miss Ferron and Patrick's teacher Mrs Williams. Both Kathleen and Patrick are A students and are working very hard, which causes a 15 minute conference dedicated to discussing whats going on with my child, to be rather boring. I am lucky to never fully be out of things to talk about so therefore it was not a complete waste of time.

My body aches from head to toe from my recent trips to the gym, another benefit to exercising, aside from the overall health benefits, is the ability to sleep well. I slept so well Sunday night that I did not even hear poor Quinn, he was throwing up over and over again, throughout the night. It wasn't till the next mornng when Tom went to wake him did he tell us he had been sick. I felt guilty. How could I not hear him??!!I know it must be true because he did not eat anything until he had a half a cup of chicken soup for dinner and even that he was not crazy about. I asked him why he didn't wake us and he just said " I don't know....you were sleeping..." !!
What a nice boy!

My shopping

I have officially begun my Christmas shopping. Although it will be hard to maintain my Christmas spirit this year, I know I will get through the season and enjoy it the best I can if I try to be organized, have a plan and have some fun things to look forward to.

Each year I try and think how to approach my shopping.....should I take care of one kid at a time, should I try to get one thing for each kid at a time, should I spend the same amount on each.......usually i just throw caution to the wind and it always works out perfect. My "plan" will be that this year will be no different. I am always amazed that I pull it off each year. When I look back over my life in years to come, when my kids are grown and no one is truly waiting for Santa anymore, I will know that making Christmas Magic happen over and over for 5 kids will be one of my life's greatest accomplishments!!!

The Big Line and the hiccups

Margaret came home from school yesterday and was telling Patrick, Kathleen and I about her teacher Mrs Reedy.

A boy in her class, Josh, had the hiccups and they were loud and kind of annoying....Mrs Reedy said" Josh, we are going to have to see what we can do about those hiccups......"

As class progressed, everyone was doing what they were suppose to be doing when Mrs Reedy took her shoe off and threw it down on the floor in front of Josh, trying to scare the hiccups out of him..

Margaret said it was so funny, some time went by and again the kids were working and Mrs Reedy took up a tennis racquet and jumped in front of Josh and screamed....EEERRRRR!!!

Margaret said the class all jumped!! As Patrick listened to her tell the story he said " Oh did you make a big line on your paper?"....and just like that, I was 8 all over again, and I remembered everytime the fire alarm would go off and I was writing, I would jump so high that my pencil would make a big line on my paper!

I started to laugh and I said to Patrick, I remember making the big line and he was surprised that I had done it too.

Margaret knew what he was talking about and she was laughing, but she continued to finish her story by saying that Mrs Reedy's methods worked because Josh's hiccups went away!

Veterans Day

The other day, Margaret remembered something funny that Pops had said......

It was two years ago and we visited Grammy and Pops on a weekend in November.....while we were there Grammy announced that it was Veterans Day, she then said "we need to thank the Veterans".....My kids usually do not need much prompting and in unison said "thank you Veterans"......Coming from down the hall a voice responded......."Your Welcome", said Pops!!!

Margaret thought it was so funny, we all thought it was funny, now it is even more funny!
I knew I wanted to write it down and have tried to write things down that the kids are remembering.......
Just so you know Patrick is looking forward to Thanksgiving so he can eat a Hot Turkey Sandwich with the gravy on that night, just like Pops and all the other soldiers!!

Sweet Victory

Thank you to those who still check in on the blog.....

Today was a big day for Taf and the Hebron Academy Football team. It has been a very hard season. Hebron met with one defeat after another, week after week...they never seemed to get a break.
Today was the last game of the season against their rival school Kents Hill.....

Hebron ended the season with Sweet VICTORY!!! HEBRON 28, KENTS HILL 14
Taf caused and recovered a fumble in the first quarter and played some fierce defense for the rest of the game.
Check out number 83....that is my Taf surrounded by his team mates as they ring the Victory Bell!! We all had such a great day!!
